“I want to say how saddened I am by the demise of Stephen Gately. He was a young man I met in unusual circumstances during the rehearsals for the Rocky Horror Tribute Show. We were all sitting in the stalls of the Royal Court Theatre each waiting to rehearse our songs; many of the people were unknown to me. I noticed a young man sitting alone and when he took to the stage to sing ‘Once in a While’ (which was cut from the original film), I was utterly overwhelmed by his rendition and personal interpretation of the song. I had heard it many times before but never like that. I was grateful to congratulate him, unaware of who he was. He kindly thanked me and explained he had to rush off to the dentist to have his tooth fixed for the evening performance. He was the most delightful, unassuming and extremely talented young man. I am grateful to have met him and to have shared the stage with him on such a memorable occasion. I would like to offer my sincerest condolences.”
Love, Patricia Quinn.
